What is the World Food Program?

The World Food Program is the food aid division of the United Nations system and the largest humanitarian agency working to alleviate global hunger

What is the ‘Fill the Cup’ campaign?

‘Fill the Cup’ is an international campaign run by the World Food Program that raises awareness and funds for the 59 million children in the world's developing countries, who go to school hungry.

The campaign slogan and logo is based on the millions of plastic cups that WFP uses to handout porridge or other food rations to millions of school children around the world.

By providing hungry children with at least 1 nutritious school meal a day, at a cost of approximately $2 per week, The World Food Program hopes to help eliminate child hunger.

Children who go to school hungry lack the same opportunity for personal development as those who are nourished.  This leads to poor school performance for the individual and poverty for their family, community and country.  WFP school meals are also a major incentive for poor families to send their children, particularly girls, to school.

How can you help the Word Food Program to eliminate child hunger?
