While St Cat’s is named after St Catherine of Alexandria, the patron saint of women scholars, ours is an independent women’s college within The University of Western Australia. We’re not affiliated to any particular religion. In fact, that’s part of the reason why the St Cat’s experience is so enriching – students of all races, religions and philosophies make St Cat’s a truly exciting and enjoyable place to be.
You can trace the college’s roots back to 1928, when it was founded by the Australian Federation of University Women and the enthusiastic support of several prominent professional women of the time. Since then, St Catherine’s has been a home away from home for women studying fields as diverse as Law, Politics, Medicine, Science, Engineering, Commerce and the Arts, not just at UWA but at many of Perth’s other universities.
St Cat’s has a long, proud history of helping women get the most out of life by providing a dynamic and positive environment where you can reach your full potential…and have heaps of fun along the way!
